| This
was the final comic strip I did, and was the only one I didn't write myself,
based as it was on a submission by Chris Stanton, aka The Undeadly Assassin.
Originally it was going to be 4 parts long, but on looking at it I decided that the original ending to the original episode one was superfluous to the story in the extreme, whereas the original episode 3 ending bridged episodes 3 and 4 with minimum of fuss, and could be removed. The original episode 1 ended like this: "en route to Egypt, Marson tells [the Doctor] of a meteorite that crashed, and how the new pyramid was found on the exact site. As they approach Egypt, and the site, a mad sand storm whips up, and the helicopter starts to go out of control "Someone doesn't want us here!" " Episode two was then to begin like this: "The helicopter is trapped in a sand storm, and things are looking bleak for the Doctor and Naomi. However, Naomi manages to pull the helicopter into a tight dive, and lands safe enough." In the final version, these two episodes make up the longer-than-normal episode 1, and the helicopter takes off and is seen to land safely, with no mention of the storm. Episode 2 as it is, then, would originally have been episodes 3 and 4, the ending to episode 3 planned as being this: "However, the four explorers (The Doctor, Jack, Naomi and Tiruphs) are a threat to the Sekonians (the skeletal "forgotten gods"), and the High Lord shouts "Now kill them, kill them all! The reign of the Sekonians is beginning!" " The story ended as planned, with Toruphs self
sacrifice to destroy the Sekonians and the pyramid, but the Doctor's
final line, "I'd rather like to find my jacket", was originally
"
I think I've had enough of pyramids for one day", as
he breaks into a smile
